Weekend in Review

We had big plans for this weekend ~ BIG PLANS! ~ which included finishing the installation of that damned hallway light, mounting the mailbox and the new house numbers, re-potting our plants, a whole lotta laundry and dishes and maybe, if we got to it, installing the new light fixture in the stairwell. But I also mentioned that we might just end up sitting on the couch all weekend in our pajamas and vegging out which, after the grocery shopping was finished and some of the dishes done, and the homemade lasagna made, and after re-potting the plants into some new (and finally big enough) pots, was exactly what we did: Nothing. At all.

So while I would like to report that we had a very productive weekend and offer a detailed summary and photographic evidence of same, all I can tell you is that my flannel pj's need a wash and that Contagion is an amazing movie, if scary as hell, and Killer Elite not-so-much (though the three minute fight scene between Jason Statham and Clive Owen is in itself worth the price of the rental). TODAY will be productive, though (I will it to be so) so I'll have lots to share with you later this week.

In other news, the lovely Rachel over at A Home In College Hill nominated yours truly for a 7x7 blogger award: I'm so flattered! Valentine's Day must be upon us because I'm feelin' the love and then some. All the 7x7 details in tomorrow's post.

Until then, I leave you with two of my favourite things from this past 48 hours:

1. Killer Elite promo pic (don't mind Clive's porn 'stache; looks terrible in photos but he actually rocks it)
The movie would have been considerably improved (in my opinion) by having Clive and Jason fight shirtless, but apparently that wouldn't have been faithful to the "story" since it's based on true-life events. Regardless, I stand by my suggestions for improvement, and WILL see the remake should the powers-that-be ever decide to take me up on my feedback.

2. This living room in a California ranch house I found while floating around the Living Etc. site
The retro~chicness of this room is positively drool-worthy, and I'm a big, BIG fan of the arc lamp, the plants and of the pops of amazing chartreuse. The whole room packs a graphic punch but isn't so busy that it detracts from the comfort factor.
That, and its faithfulness to its era, makes it a winner in my book.

'Til tomorrow, y'all!
